West Seattle Rotary builds
a mud storage hut in
Kenya

Between August 5th -August
17 a group of 14 West Seattle rotary members
with there families travelled to Kenya for a
two week Eco-Cultural safari. During there
tour they built a mud storage hut for the
East Africa center school
(www.eastafricancenter.org) in Takaungu
village, Kenya. They also conducted
basketball and quilt making classes.
During their 7 day stay at the village, they
got to meet the local residents, learn about
their culture and way of life and sampled
the local cuisine.
On their second week they
visited Mombasa old town, Gede ruins and
snokelling in malindi and went an exquisite
safari to Tsavo- the theatre of the wild ,
to see hundred of animals in the wild.

"Our time in
Takaunga surpassed my highest
expectations!
The
animal safaris and stays at the
beautiful beach hotels were very
cool,
but
nothing, NOTHING like staying in the
village and living with the warm,
friendly people of Takaunga.
I can’t
possibly express my feelings about
the children, except to say that
you’ll leave with a little bit of
them in your heart forever.
Our
group was glad to get home to
Seattle, but within weeks we were
all thinking about returning to
Kenya…you just can’t leave it
behind.
The
experience is priceless…do it…just
go!
My
greatest trip of all time."

Rotary)
"Come Kuona took care of all our
needs. It was as if they knew ahead
of time everything we could possibly
need. We felt at home and well taken
care
of. I would highly recommend Come
Kuona to anyone interested in having
the experience of a lifetime. "
